About

Meet Seth

Hello, I’m Seth, the founder of Advocate-Alliance.

If you’re looking for a coach who understands the nuance, the exhaustion, and the profound love involved in caring for a neurodivergent or disabled child—especially while navigating your own complex identity and neurotype—you’ve found your advocate.

My work is the culmination of professional training and a deeply complex personal journey. I didn’t just study advocacy and support; I live it. My mission is to use every piece of my lived experience—the wins, the losses, the systemic battles—to create a clear, sustainable path for you and your family.

My Mission, Vision, & Values

Core Philosophy

At Advocate-Alliance, I redefine “behavioural problems.” I operate on the foundational truth that all behaviour is communication, and challenging behaviour is always a symptom of an unmet need.

I don’t focus on fixing anyone; I focus on supporting the family system. My coaching is built on principles of equity over equality, recognizing that every living being requires precisely what they need to succeed, not just the same resources ‘everyone’ gets. I provide the tailored resources and deep understanding necessary to shift your unique family from crisis management to sustainable thriving.

My Mission

To empower parents and caregivers with expert resources, personalized strategies, and empathetic peer support, transforming systemic exhaustion into sustainable family thriving.

My Vision

A world where every family navigating neurodivergence, and or disability has immediate access to clear navigation tools and a resilient support system, allowing them to advocate confidently and live fully.

My Core Values

  • Transparency & Real-Talk: I approach challenges honestly, without platitudes or judgment.
  • Intersectionality: I recognize that family and parenting challenges are inseparable from identity (race, gender, orientation, location, and neurotype) and actively listen to your struggles and experiences that are not my lived ones, while simultaneously engaging in various continuing education opportunities offered by marginalized groups and knowledge keepers.
  • Empowerment: I teach skills and provide resources so families can become their own most effective advocates.
  • Continuous Learning: I remain open-minded and committed to evolving my practice through the latest research and most valuable lived experiences.

Expertise Forged in Experience

My professional expertise in burnout management, resource navigation, and specialized coaching is uniquely informed by my personal life.

The Lived Experience That Makes the Difference:

  • The Neurodivergent Family: Navigating complex systems (medical, educational, social) for myself (AuDHD, OCD, LD) and my own children with ASD, ADHD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder and OCD. This, combined with an extensive professional background in respite work, group home management, enhanced support & personal support work, is where I learned the shortcuts and the pitfalls, creating the roadmap I now offer you.
  • The Power of Identity: As a Trans and Queer individual, I understand the unique challenges of intersecting identities and the added layer of advocacy required to ensure safety, recognition, and equitable access for all family members.
  • Resilience from Conflict: My background includes growing up in a rural, small-town setting and navigating trauma. This has cultivated a profound understanding of community isolation, the difficulty of leaving unhealthy environments, and the resilience required to forge an authentic path.
  • Global and Cultural Fluency: Extensive experience working with the IRCC (Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada) has exposed me to a vast array of diverse cultures, resource challenges, and the complexities of adapting in new systems. This experience, coupled with extensive work within the First Nations and Inuit communities, ensures my coaching is culturally sensitive and resource-aware.
  • Passion for People and Learning: I approach every client relationship with deep, genuine curiosity and an open mind. I love to learn, and I believe the greatest lessons come directly from the experiences of the families I serve.

My Commitment to Justice

Advocate-Alliance is not a neutral space. I am deeply committed to equity and justice. My work is informed by, and I am a vocal proponent of:

  • Black Lives Matter: Actively promoting anti-racism and advocating for systemic changes that address racial disparities in health, education, and disability support.
  • Indigenous Rights and Truth & Reconciliation: Committed to learning, respecting, and acting in support of Indigenous peoples, recognizing the historical and ongoing impact of colonization on Indigenous families and communities.
  • Feminism: I protect and support the rights of all humans to equal pay, their right to choose, and autonomy over their lives and bodies.
  • 2SLGBTQIA+: As a member of the community, a founder of a trans-youth mentorship program, and a loving human being, I will fight to protect the human right to authenticity, integrity and love.
